Texting is just as quick and isn't as formal as an email. Texts give you a chance to loosen a few buttons—they're more conversational and relaxed.

While it’s often used for small talk or short, personal conversations, it's also utilized by businesses for both internal and external communication. Over the years, it has become an essential component of mobile communication – one that many of us would have trouble living without.

Did You Know?

According to MessageDesk, only 17% of people have zero unread emails. Whereas 74% of people have zero unread text messages.

Plus, the average person receives over 120 emails per day. This leaves a small window of opportunity for messages to get read.

Businesses and organizations are turning to SMS text communication because text messaging is much more convenient than emails:

  • Email inboxes are overflowing
  • Many emails get flagged as spam
  • People don't answer the phone
  • And voicemails get forgotten

A Text Is High-priority And Gets Read

Unlike emails, text messages are read almost right away. While email open rates are roughly 20%, text messages have an open rate of 98%.

Our email inboxes are inundated with messages, and we don't consider many of them to be important. The high volume of email has conditioned us to treat the medium as low-priority: We don't have an urge to answer an email right away and many of us don't have notifications turned on for new messages.

SMS is viewed as a high-priority medium; we grab our phones almost as soon as we hear our text notification. If you're trying to get someone's attention right away, email is not the best medium to accomplish this.

As the new millennium unfolded, text messages transformed the way people communicate. Despite the emergence of various messaging apps, SMS remains an effective, reliable tool that fosters communication among people and businesses across the world.

Everyone Texts

Texting isn't a medium reserved for a younger crowd. People of all ages—even grandparents—use text messaging to communicate with friends and family.
